REDES (Research and Development in Empirical Studies) is an international project born of the cooperation between the universities of Alberta (Canada), Kiev (Ukraine), Munich (Germany) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). It aims at promoting the scientific study of literature and culture from a multi-cultural perspective and at developing a tradition in which student participation in empirical research will become self-evident. Each center develops local group discussions with graduate and postgraduate students and the coordinators. The discussions are posted on the portal, where international collaboration takes place. We believe this interaction will produce not only new research projects but will also contribute to change teaching methodologies.

Among its objectives, REDES intends to:

  1. disseminate empirical research methods for the study of human culture;

  2. promote international contact between beginning students of literature and culture;

  3. stimulate students to actively carry out research independently from a early stage in their studies onwards, with the possible prospect of becoming researchers within (and beyond) academia;

  4. enable the development of intercultural research through the use of a digital forum.
